Building aesthetically designed smart homes with a vision of providing IoT enabled homes which will be a regular preference in decades to come

Really good developers have already understood the need to build Smart Homes or Automated Homes. A majority of architects design the blueprints in such a way that it becomes easier to convert a regular aesthetically designed home into an automated home anytime the owner wishes.

IoT-enabled homes used to be concepts that existed in the 80s and 90s sci-fi tv shows and movies however they are a thing of reality now. A majority of homeowners in western countries are adopting IoT technology, at least those who can afford it as it does come with a hefty price tag.

In regards to India, the concept and vision exist however it will take a good number of years for at least 30% of homes to become completely automated. As of now IT campuses, hubs, and a few hi-tech companies run automated but not completely. IoT or completely automated homes are very few and considered super-premium but there has been a slight increase in homeowners, semi-automating their homes. Example: A homeowner picks up Amazon’s echo dot and decides to sync their home. The first thing that will need to be done is to rearrange wired and non-wired architecture so that the device can access lighting, temperature, climate, and entertainment systems and may include access, security, and alarm systems too.

Barring the cost some of the most important factors that hinder IoT are as follows:
1. Data Transmission: Data transference from source to destination should go through without error, delay or loss.

2. Security: Smart Homes or Automated Homes based on IoT have low security on the server-side and can easily be hacked into.

3: Reconfiguration: Inability of the system to reconfigure itself in case of a threat or an attack.

4. Authentication: To prevent attacks a major preventive step is to be taken for a smart home to secure itself thereby meaning advance authentication steps.

5. Data Storage: With the ever-increasing applications being downloaded and installed, IoT has created a problem of continuous data increment. It indeed poses a challenge to store the data.

6. Cost-Effectiveness: Almost every device has to face this problem. Since in the smart home technology the products devised are quite expensive.

These are just a few challenges that IoT for smarter homes will face in future years.

“We can for see the advancement in Home Automation in the future and although we don’t produce Fully Automated homes, we design our homes in such a way that at some point of time in the future, the homeowner can easily convert their homes from manual to automated homes, this is based on the unique way we have set up network architecture to either install or dismantle wired and non wired platforms in the home.
